Indiana State Police

A routine Indiana State Police check on a disabled motorist Tuesday afternoon ended with the arrests of a pair of Vigo County men wanted on warrants in nearby counties.

At 1:30 p.m., Trooper Yan Dravigne stopped to check on a disabled 2005 Dodge utility van near the 43-mile marker of Interstate 70.

The van was found the merely be out of gas, but Dravigne discovered its occupants were wanted on warrants.

Douglas L. Allsup, 37, West Terre Haute, was arrested on a Vigo County warrant for Class D felony possession of methamphetamine and a Marion County warrant for parole violation.

Larry G. Farley Jr., 18, Terre Haute, was wanted on Owen County warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors.

The two men were transported to the Putnam County Jail.

County Jail

A number of people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11:45 a.m. Friday, Keith Richard Gibson, 43, Mooresville, was arrested for probation violation.

At 11:50 a.m. Tony Franklin Tomblin, 50, Coatesville, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 12 p.m. Christopher Joseph Foster, 25, Indianapolis, was held at the jail for probation violation.

At 10:15 p.m. Charles Daniel Ross, 37, Monrovia, was booked in for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

At 11:20 p.m. Paul David Himsel, 54, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 12:24 a.m. Saturday, Ricky Maurice Thomas Jr., 19, Indianapolis, was charged with possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

At 1 a.m. Jonathan Wesley Jones, 18, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

At 1:20 a.m. Jalen Lee Brummer, 19, Indianapolis, was arrested for possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

At 1:30 a.m. Jason Carl Jones, 18, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

* At 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, Lindsey Michelle Smith, 28, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 6:15 p.m. Dana Rutledge, 25, Terre Haute, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 7:44 a.m. Sunday, Joshua D. Blake, 20, Indianapolis, was eastbound on Interstate 70 near the 37-mile marker in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu when he fell asleep.

Sgt. Jon Chadd said it appeared that after Blake fell asleep, the car left the south side of the road, traveled through a roadside ditch and continued eastbound before striking the back side of the guardrail.

The vehicle then apparently became airborne before striking a signpost. At this point, it overturned and came to rest on its top before catching fire.

Blake and his passenger, Robert C. Davis, 21, Indianapolis, both escaped the car. Blake was treated by Operation Life for neck pain. Davis was treated for back pain.

Lt. Donnie Pettit and Deputy Josh Boller both assisted at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Police

A minor two-vehicle accident was reported Monday afternoon on the parking lot at Area 30 Career Center, 1 Calbert Way.

Evan Denny, 18, Clayton, had turned left into the parking lot, driving a 1994 Dodge Power Ram, and pulled into a parking space, Greencastle City Police Officer Albert Epple reported.

Jessica Funk, 17, Greencastle, followed Denny into the lot at the wheel of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am. As he pulled into the parking space, she was passing behind his vehicle when Denny began backing up without seeing the Funk car, Epple reported.

Total damage in the 12:02 p.m. collision was estimated at $1,00-$2,500.

One recent speeding citation was issued by Greencastle Officer Nick Eastham.

-- At 8:21 p.m. Monday, Mary Stuart, 48, Delphi, was ticketed for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.
