County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:28 p.m. Tuesday, Michael David Snodgrass, 41, Westfield, was arrested for probation violation.

At 5 p.m. Dillon Paul Brown, 21, Bainbridge, was charged with probation violation.

* At 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, Nicholas Jordan Bradshaw, 18, Danville, was booked in for burglary and criminal mischief.

At 5:50 a.m. Travis Alan Clay, 18, Danville, was also booked in for burglary and criminal mischief.

Sheriff's Department

At 3:36 p.m. on Monday, Harold P. Ely, 49, Atlanta, Ind., was southbound on County Road 325 West in a 2008 Nissan Titan when his right front tire got off the road, causing him to lose control of the truck, hitting a fence and several other items.

Capt. Danny Wallace estimated damages at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of recent dispatches.

* At 6:12 p.m. on Friday, GFD investigated an alarm at 109 W. Hanna St. Crews discovered a malfunctioning alarm, returning to station at 6:32 p.m.

* At 1:55 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters were called to an alarm at 415 S. Locust St. They returned to station at 2:09 p.m.

At 3:47 p.m. personnel were called to investigate a gas odor in the building at 520 E. Seminary St. Nothing was detected, but firefighters continued to monitor the air until clearing the scene at 4:57 p.m.

At 3:50 p.m. crews were called to power lines down at 22 E. Washington St. They called the utility company and returned to station at 4 p.m.

At 8:15 p.m. GFD investigated an alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. Crews found the problem to be due to cooking. They cleared the scene at 8:30 p.m.

At 8:35 p.m. firefighters were called to an alarm at 106 S. Spring St. Investigation revealed the problem was due to a bug bomb. Personnel aired out the building before returning to station at 9:07 p.m.

* Between Sunday and Tuesday, crews performed four separate lift assists at 1038 Castlebury Dr.

* At 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, personnel investigated an alarm at 1920 Wyndemere Dr., finding no problem. They cleared the scene at 2:47 p.m.

At 11:37 p.m. firefighters performed a lift assist at 805 Crescent Dr., returning to station at 11:48 p.m.

* At 2 p.m. on Monday, GFD was called to an alarm at 904 S. College Ave. but was disregarded at 2:04 p.m.

At 3:18 p.m. crews performed a medical assist at 228 S. Bloomington St., clearing the scene at 3:37 p.m.

* At 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, crews investigated an alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. The cause was found to be cooking. They cleared the scene at 1:33 a.m.

At 4:54 p.m. GFD performed a lift assist at 103 Northwood Blvd, returning to station at 5:22 p.m.

At 8:20 p.m. firefighters investigated an alarm at 508 S. Jackson St. A leak had caused water to flow through the detector. They cleared the scene at 8:45 p.m.

* At 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, personnel investigated an alarm at 108 W. Hanna St., discovering cooking as a problem. They returned to station at 8:19 a.m.

At 1:19 p.m. GFD was called to an alarm at 333 S. 10th St., but was disregarded at 1:20 p.m.
