County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 1:56 a.m. Wednesday, Roger Patrick Lopez, 43, Greencastle, was arrested for invasion of privacy.

At 9:15 a.m. Edward Nathaniel Willis, 42, Greencastle, was charged with possession of marijuana and probation violation.

At 2:45 p.m. Theadola JoAnn Thomas, 23, Indianapolis, was held at the jail for failure to appear and driving with a suspended license.

* At 4:29 p.m. on Thursday, Gregory Scott Arnold, 43, Gosport, was booked in for probation violation.

* At 1:40 a.m. Friday, Peter Christopher Adamson, 41, Coatesville, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 3:50 a.m. Brian Thomas Asbury, 38, Cloverdale, was booked in on a petition to revoke probation.

City Police

Three recent accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Casey Bunten, 25, Greencastle, was riding a Taotao scooter eastbound on Washington Street, approaching Locust Street in the streetscape construction zone, when a 2012 Kia Forte, driven by Zachary Morrison, 22, Paris, Ky., reportedly turned into his path.

Morrison told GPD Officer Darrel Bunten that he did not see the scooter because of the traffic and other activity in the construction zone.

Bunten suffered a leg injury and was transported to Putnam County Hospital via private vehicle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 10:06 a.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at North Jackson and Columbia streets.

John Scamahorn, 65, Greencastle, was northbound, driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, when a southbound 1997 Ford Clubwagon truck driven by Mark E. Henderson, 54, Trafalgar, turned left into his path.

Henderson told Officer Bunten that he spotted his street destination and started turning without seeing the oncoming Scamahorn vehicle.

Total damage in the mishap was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 3:34 p.m. Wednesday, a two-car accident occurred at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue E.

With after-school traffic backed up along Percy Julian Drive, Letha Kaelber, 67, Brazil, attempted to turn southbound onto the roadway from Avenue E.

Although her view was obstructed by other vehicles, another driver motioned for her to enter the intersection, where her 2006 Ford Taurus collided with a northbound 1998 Chevrolet Geo Metro, being driven in the turn lane by Rachel Neudeck, 18, Reelsville.

Officer Ed Wilson estimated total damage in the accident at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to several recent alarms.

* At 9:09 p.m. on Wednesday, firefighters investigated an alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. The problem was caused by cooking. They returned to station at 9:18 p.m.

At 9:30 p.m. GFD performed a lift assist at 1038 Castlebury Dr., returning to station at 9:47 p.m.

* At 12:28 p.m. Thursday, crews were dispatched to an alarm at 109 W. Hanna St. Investigation revealed it was due to cooking. They cleared the scene at 1:39 p.m.

At 11:20 p.m. personnel investigated an alarm at 405 S. Jackson St., discovering the problem to be cooking. They cleared the scene at 11:31 p.m.

* At 1:39 a.m. Friday, GFD responded to an alarm at 500 S. Jackson St. No reason was discovered for the activation. Crews returned to station at 1:44 p.m.

At 11:03 a.m., firefighters were called to an alarm at 309 Medic Way but were disregarded at 11:05 a.m.
