Tutoring at Gobin to begin Monday

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

School is back in session and it's time for Tutoring at Gobin.

The after-school program for students in grades 1-5 is designed to help build critical reading skills needed to keep up in school. Individual tutoring for older students can be scheduled after 4 p.m.

Students will attend sessions twice a week for a program, which includes a snack, arts and crafts, individual reading, homework help and field trips.

Interested participants can now register for the tutoring program, which begins Monday, Sept. 9. The cost is $150 per semester, with reduced fees available.

Education Coordinator Lucy Wieland and Director Cathy Merrel head the staff of DePauw University tutors who teach essential reading skills, help with homework and serve as mentors to students.

The Reading Improvement Center has served Putnam County students since 1987, and is a partner of United Way of Putnam County.

For more information contact Merrell at 653-9569.
