DePauw named sophomore quarterback Justin Murray the starter for Saturday's season-opener at Sewanee, DPU head coach Bill Lynch said Wednesday.

Murray started five games at quarterback last season and has battled junior Drew Seaman for the job throughout camp. Seaman also started five games last year and was on the field for the first possession at last Saturday's scrimmage at Franklin.

The two split reps throughout camp and during games last season. Murray threw for 1,168 yard and eight touchdowns in 2012, and Seaman 1,031 and four TDs.

Murray had a long touchdown pass during the scrimmage at Franklin that may have helped the coaches in the decision process, and he has been more consistent throughout camp.

Unlike last year, when the two shared game action, Lynch has said he plans to give one quarterback the job for 2013.

DePauw opens at Sewanee at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
