Milling Days, Craft Demo Days on tap at Bridgeton Sept. 7-8

BRIDGETON -- Milling and Craft Demonstration Days are scheduled for the Parke County community of Bridgeton on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7-8.

Activities are set for 10: a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Milling Days at the mill celebrates the birthday of Oliver Evans, the father of modern milling. Visits can tour the Bridgeton Mill and see the 200-year-old French buhr stones grind corn into cornmeal and grits.

Cornbread and pancake mixes made using the mill's own organic stone-ground products will be available for sale.

Craft Demonstration Days at the 1878 house and barn and the Waterfall View Barn at the Mill will feature pioneer and modern crafters at work creating their wares.

Woodworkers and bowl carvers, a pottery artist, quilters, spinners, knitters, and other fiber artists will be demonstrating and selling handmade items.

Visitors can also meet the artisans at the mill and tour the 1822 Case log cabin and learn how early settlers lived.

Admission is free with plenty of free parking available.

Bridgeton is located 10 miles south of Rock-ville (take State Road 59 north from Brazil to the Bridgeton billboard and turn left). For more information persons may call 765-548-2136.
