Letter to the Editor

Thankful for GPD officers' efforts on dogs, cats

Thursday, September 5, 2013

To the Editor:

The Board of Directors and members of the Humane Society of Putnam County would like to express their appreciation for the care and concern of the Greencastle Police Department officers who investigated the neglected animals (Banner Graphic, Aug. 24, 2013).

Lead Officer Sgt. Charles Inman and his fellow officers were moved by the condition of the animals to buy food for them out of their own pockets, according to the article.

The officers continued to care for these poor pets while using all resources possible to find them new homes. They were ultimately successful as all the dogs and one cat were eventually placed.

We, along with a multitude of our Facebook friends, applaud their compassion and hope that all cases of abused, abandoned or neglected animals might be rescued by such dedicated officials.
