Larry Schimpf

Saturday, September 7, 2013

On Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, Larry Schimpf passed beyond this world into the presence of God.

The epitome of family, he was married to his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Lana, for more than 50 years. Together they raised the joy of their lives three children, Debbi Christy (husband Mark), Janice Keyt (husband Monty) and Michael Schimpf (wife Kari).

In addition to their children, Larry is survived by the treasures of his heart, his grandchildren, Kaila Harkins (husband Jon), Drew Christy, Joshua Keyt, Chad Keyt, Noah Schimpf and Allison Schimpf, and to his great delight, two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Clary Harkins.

He was born March 26, 1946 to Rev. Samuel and Helene Leona Trotter Schimpf, who awaited him in heaven.

He is survived by brothers, Jim (wife Sheila), Bob (wife Barb) and sister,

Cheryl (husband Kerry) Shipley. One sister Barbara also greeted him in heaven.

Larry was first and foremost, a man of God, solid in his faith, never wavering in the face of the most trying adversity. A man of wisdom and integrity with a generous spirit and great sense of humor. All who knew him will miss his smile and laughter.

Thessalonians 4:13 ESV: "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope." Praise God we will meet again.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

In lieu of flowers, as per Larry's wishes, the family asks that donations be made to the Christy Benefit Fund at First Financial Bank or First National Bank for the ongoing medical expenses for his grandson.

Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family in care of www.bittlesandhurt.com.
