Doris Madge (Cline) Smythe of Winona Lake, Ind., passed into the arms of The Lord at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake at the age of 103.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1909 at the family farm home in Belle Union to Jesse Ellsworth Cline and Myrtle Florence (Moser) Cline.

On June 15, 1929 she was married to Deward Wendell Smythe, who preceded her in death. They lived most of their life in Greencastle in Putnam County.

She was a member of Gobin Methodist Church in Greencastle, and had been active in her earlier years with church activities, and had been on the church building project.

Madge was a loving mother and wife, a homemaker who enjoyed her Sewing Club, and loved to play bridge. An avid painter, she was always working on something creative, such as needlepoint, crocheting and knitting ... she was never idle.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shirley "Sue" Fuson (Warsaw, Ind.), wife of Robert L. Fuson, who passed away March 16, 2012; one granddaughter, Susan Lynn Dean (Kansas City, Kan.); one grandson, Robert Fuson II (Warsaw); three great-grandchildren (all of Kansas City, Kan., area), Jeremiah Dean, Keena Dean and A.J. Dean; and one great-great-granddaughter, four-year-old Bella Marie Dean (Kansas City, Kan.).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, two brothers and grandson, Brian Lee Fuson.

At her request there will be no visitation, a graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, officiated by Pastor Wes Kendall.
