Dennis L. Snoddy, 68, of Clinton, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at the home of his mother-in-law. He had been battling cancer for the last year.

He was born Dec. 4, 1944 in Clinton, the son of Harry and Geneva Smith Snoddy. He graduated from Clinton High School.

Dennis worked as an engineering assistant for 35 plus years at the Newport Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 2010.

Dennis enjoyed fishing and had fished in tournaments in the past. He was an animal lover, especially dogs and enjoyed being a "rock hound," collecting unusual and unique rocks.

Dennis has in the recent past started investigating the Snoddy genealogy, but his favorite pastime was gold prospecting. He was a member of the Gold Prospecting Association of America and passed this hobby to his son and grandson as well.

Dennis was a loving dad and spent many hours doing projects with his son as well as, just talking on the phone together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Keera Snoddy; two brothers, Norman Snoddy and Robert Snoddy; nephews Dupont Snoddy and Brian Snoddy and niece Annette Wong.

Survivors include his wife Susan Lesko; son Wade Snoddy and wife Jennifer of Knightsville; grandson Harrison Snoddy; sister-in-law Donna Snoddy of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Eileen Dunn of Brazil; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Lesko and wife Michelle of Greencastle and Stephen Lesko and wife Catherine of Reelsville; nieces Ellen Lesko and Alexandria Lesko and nephews Wesley Lesko and Dale Snoddy; and other extended family.

At his request, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Pippin officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service.
