Greencastle girls' soccer loses to Cascade

Monday, September 16, 2013

The Greencastle girls' soccer teams welcomed Cascade to its home field and fell to the Cadets 2-0 on Saturday.

The girls lost the first game 2-0, a thriller until the very end. The girls had crisp passing and their defense was very good the entire game.

The Cadets scored their first 4:03 into the game on an Olivia Fisher kick. The Tiger Cubs held the Cadets at bay for the rest of the half while playing good defense and getting the ball into opponent territory.

"I thought we played good. It was a lot better than our game on Thursday," Greencastle head coach Jamie Grivas said.

Cascade's second goal came with 29:52 left in the second half on another shot by Fisher.

"We have a very strong defense and I think they played great today," Grivas said.

Despite losing 2-0, the Tiger Cubs goalie sophomore Amelia Smith had nine saves.

"They had good shots, she is an amazing goalie," Grivas said.

The Tiger Cubs had lots of shots on goal in the second half but the Cacade goalkeeper kept turning the Tiger Cubs away.

"We need to work on scoring," Grivas said. "We have the potential we just need to harness it."
