Musical Market

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Incredible fall-like weather and marvelous music -- coupled with offerings of fruits, veggies, kettle corn and the like -- yielded the largest crowd of the year Saturday at the Greencastle Farmers Market. Entertaining the crowd on the east side of the courthouse square, clarinetist Jenny Woodrum and bass player Eric Snoza, members of the Fifth House Ensemble, play a swinging Benny Goodman offering. The market is open each Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon through mid-October. The Fifth House Ensemble, meanwhile, has begun an eight-month process in which the group and the DePauw School of Music are preparing a tribute to Putnam County. Throughout the year, the group will be seeking out inspiration and gathering information for an innovative work celebrating the heritage of the area. The project will culminate in a world-premiere performance of "Harvest" on Mother's Day, May 11 at DPU.
