An Indianapolis man was arrested in Putnam County on Thursday when Indiana State Police found about a quarter pound of marijuana in the trunk of the car in which he was traveling.

An Indianapolis man was arrested Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop revealed several ounces of marijuana in the trunk of a car traveling on Interstate 70.

At approximately 4 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Yan Dravigne stopped a maroon 2008 Pontiac G6 near the westbound 30-mile maker of I-70 for a broken taillight.

As Dravigne approached the vehicle, he noticed a distinct smell of raw marijuana coming from the Pontiac.

A search of the vehicle yielded approximately one-quarter pound of suspected marijuana packaged and placed in a trash bag in the trunk of the vehicle.

The front seat passenger, 19-year-old Trayon L. Turner, was arrested and charged with two Class D felonies, possession of marijuana over 30 grams and dealing in marijuana.

The driver, Darius Gordon, 22, of Indianapolis, was cited for driving while suspended and released.

Assisting at the scene were ISP Master Trooper Don Farris and Trooper Brian Thomas.

Turner was lodged at the Putnam County Jail.
