Robert E. 'Bob' Gardner

Robert E. (Bob) Gardner, age 84, of Carlisle, Pa., and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in Pennsylvania.

Bob was formerly of Greencastle, Ind. Born Nov. 14, 1928, in Greencastle, Ind., he was the son of the late John and Frances (Miller) Gardner.

Bob was the owner of Gardner's Market in Greencastle, Ind.

He later became a meat cutter with The Kroger Co. and was a member of the Indiana Area United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

He also served with the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne stationed in Germany.

Bob enjoyed golfing, boating, baseball, and woodworking. Bob loved living in Florida where he and Joy would spend their winters.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Joy B. (Smith) Gardner.

Also surviving is his son, Scott (Stephanie) Gardner of Scottsburg, Ind.; his daughter, Anna Osborne of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Patti (Smith) (Michael) Volcko, and Janice (Smith) Harmon both of Mechanicsburg, Pa. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Will and Lindsay Gardner and Michael Brolle.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Rd., Carlisle, Pa.
