TERRE HAUTE -- The North Putnam girls' soccer team won at West Vigo on Thursday night 3-1.

Freshman Kaelynn Abner scored two goals, one off an assist from senior Autumn Wolf, and senior Anna Sims scored one more for the Cougars.

"The girls played tough tonight," NPHS coach Willie Gaskins said. "Our communication and calling for outlet passes was phenomenal, we just couldn't finish them."

North Putnam had 13 shots on net, but the win was highlighted by the return of senior Haven Trent, who has been out all season after injuring her ACL earlier this year.

The Cougars will play in the South Montgomery Invitational on Saturday, which begins at 9 a.m.
