39th annual Berry Street flea market on tap for Saturday

Monday, September 30, 2013

Berry Street residents will be hosting their annual flea market this Saturday, Oct. 5, marking their 39th year of welcoming bargain hunters, visitors and former residents to their Greencastle neighborhood.

Along with the traditional flea-market treasures visitors will also find a variety of food and sweets, including the traditional bean soup and cornbread being cooked out over an open fire on South College Avenue, just a few feet south of Berry Street.

For first-time visitors, Berry Street is located a mile south of the Greencastle courthouse on the city's southwest side.

Port-o-lets will be placed on Warren Street (renamed by the city to Green Acre Lane) between Jackson and Indiana streets and in the parking lot on the east side of Berry Insurance just east of Locust Street.

The city has again exempted parking regulations on Berry Street for Saturday's annual event.
