County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, David Duane Ferguson, 36, Greencastle, was charged with public intoxication.

* At 12:59 a.m. on Saturday, Christine Elizabeth Day, 22, Bloomington, was charged with public intoxication.

* At 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, David Francis Boyer, 46, Cloverdale, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 1:29 a.m. on Sunday, Marc Thomas Yakel, 38, Brazil, was charged with being a habitual traffic violator.

* At 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Brian Patrick Blough, 50, Brownsburg, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 2:57 a.m. on Sunday, Ryan Douglas Mann, 31, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior.

* At 4:33 a.m. on Sunday, John James Long, 29, Roachdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 2 p.m. on Monday, Desmond Lee Scales, 33, Greencastle, was charged with trespassing.

* At 2:20 p.m. on Monday, Brian Hart, 28, Cloverdale, was charged with contempt of court.

* At 2:54 p.m. on Monday, Ladell Jones, 23, Indianapolis, was charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to appear.

* At 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, David Ryan Jones, 21, Clayton, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior and driving on a suspended license.

* At 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Daniel Lee Ritter, 23, Avon, was charged with possession of marijuana.

Sheriff's Department

* At 3:24 p.m. on Friday, Jennifer L. Tomaw, 27, Greencastle, was backing out of a parking space at South Putnam High School when she stopped to look for traffic.

Trenton L. Workman, 18, Greencastle, told Deputy Ronnie Campbell he was looking at the doors for his sibling and didn't notice Tomaw in time to swerve his 2001 Dodge Stratus and miss the vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 5:23 p.m. on Friday, Charles R. Kerr, 89, Greencastle, was traveling northbound on U.S. 231 just south of County Road 75 North, in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.

Kerr for unknown reasons went into the other northbound lane, sideswiping John M. Partin, 41, Russellville, who was driving a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, John J. Kern, 62, Dale, informed Campbell that he was northbound on U.S. 231, just north of State Road 236 when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Kern's 2003 Dodge Ram went into a ditch, hitting a power pole, crossing U.S. 231 and entering another ditch. His truck and trailer with tractor on it were towed from the scene.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 9:26 a.m. on Sunday, Johnny A. Snyder, 35 Reelsville, was northbound on County Road 375 West, in a 1999 Ford Explorer.

Sgt. Craig Sibbitt said it appeared that the vehicle lost control and left the roadway on the east side and went into a yard and slid into a tree.

Snyder told Sibbitt that he was watching a vehicle in front of him and he lost control.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500. Snyder agreed to make restitution with the landowner, Steven Benton of Greencastle.

* At 2:19 p.m. on Sunday, Oskar J. Kane, 19, Hermitage, Tenn., was westbound on State Road 240 just east of County Road 525 East, in a 2008 Ford Ranger.

Kane reported to Campbell that he was traveling at approximately 55 mph and lost control in the corner due to the wet roads.

Kane then hit a utility pole and came to rest in the yard located at 1742 S. C.R. 525 E.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 2:47 p.m. on Sunday, Alice M. Bailey, 56, Spencer, was southbound on County Road 325 East, in a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker.

Bailey told Sibbitt the vehicle left the roadway on the west side after the right front tire hit some large stones and pulled it into a ditch.

The vehicle then rolled and landed on its wheels coming to rest facing northbound in the ditch.

Bailey was transported to Putnam County Hospital with minor injuries.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:24 a.m. on Monday, Dustin W. Huber, 23, Cloverdale, was stopped at the intersection of U.S. 231 and S.R. 42.

Huber stated to Deputy Adam Hull that he did not see Wilma E. Sheriff, 54, Spencer, approaching from the north.

Huber proceeded to enter the traffic lane in a 2007 Ford F150 when he hit Sheriff who was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.

Sheriff was complaining of lower back pain at the scene and was transported to Bloomington Hospital via Operation Life.

Damages were estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
