CLAYTON -- The North Putnam boys' soccer team got behind early against West Central Conference rival Cascade on Monday. Their second half response came up short and the Cougars lost 9-4.

NPHS trailed 6-0 after just 21 minutes, before a pair of goals by the Cougars just before the half gave them some momentum.

Senior Bennett Hazelgrove scored one on a breakaway, ripping the ball around tight coverage into the corner of the net at 12:56 in the first half and senior Nate Woolums scored again nine minutes later when his attempt at a crossing pass was deflected into the Cascade goal.

Hazelgrove and sophomore Kyler Jeter scored goals in the second half.
