Wednesday, October 9, 2013

The DePauw University Performing Arts Series will host three-time Grammy nominee Peter Case this week.

Case will present a public talk on songwriting at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Watson Forum of the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media, and will perform a concert on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall in the Green Center for the Performing Arts.

Both the talk and the concert are free and open to the public.

Thursday night's concert will also feature local singer-songwriter Anthony Mullis as the opening act.

During Case's short residency at DPU he will also visit a songwriting class and will appear live on a special edition of the WGRE radio show "Locals Only" from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Known to many for his work with pioneer West Coast rock bands The Nerve and The Plimsouls in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Case has gone on to even greater success over the span of 30 years as a solo artist.

Well known and respected as a "songwriters' songwriter," Case has performed and recorded with many luminaries in the roots and Americana movements such as T-Bone Burnette, Ry Cooder, Richard Thompson, Victoria Williams and John Hiatt.
