County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

* At 9:55 a.m. Nicholas Robert Lieske, 30, Crawfordsville, was arrested for theft.

* At 12:55 p.m. Lawrence Brian Miller, 38, Coatesville, was charged with probation violation and being a habitual traffic violator.

City Police

Three property-damage accidents, all occurring along Bloomington Street (U.S. 231 South), were investigated this week by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 10:09 a.m. Wednesday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on Bloomington Street near Broadway as southbound traffic was stopped for a red light at Veterans Memorial Highway.

Driving a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country, Cindy Gobert Jones, 54, Greencastle, was stopped in that traffic when her van was struck from behind by a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Rodney Kersey, 64, Greencastle.

Kersey told Officer Darrel Bunten that the brakes on his truck failed as he approached the stopped traffic and when he applied his brake pedal, it went clear to the floor.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 8 a.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle was reported in the Bloomington Street-Veterans Highway intersection as Carlos Shrewsbury, 63, Greencastle, was southbound, driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR.

Shrewsbury told Chief Tom Sutherlin that he momentarily looked away from traffic in front of him, but in that instant traffic stopped and his vehicle ran into the rear of a 2001 Acura driven by Scott Thompson, 20, Carmel.

Chief Sutherlin listed total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 12:35 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at Bloomington and Seminary streets.

A 2010 International wrecker was southbound, driven by Steven McAuley, 28, Bloomington, when a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Jodi Willis, 29, Cloverdale, reportedly pulled away from the stopsign on Seminary Street and into the path of the wrecker.

Officer Albert Epple estimated total damage at $5,000-$10,000.

One recent traffic citation was reported by Greencastle officers.

-- At 3:14 p.m. Wednesday, Chanelle Wallace, 30, Cloverdale, was cited on Fawnview Drive by Reserve Officer Jeremiah Jackson for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.
