Thomas D. Parker Sr., 96, of Greencastle, formerly of Fillmore, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.

Born April 29, 1917 in Harrison, Ohio, he was the son of Fred T. and Lena (Hoover) Parker.

He was a 1936 graduate of Union Township Schools in Parke County.

He married Inez A. Morlan on July 1, 1939, and she preceded him in death.

Tom had been a lifelong farmer. He had also worked at Delco Remy in Anderson and Bryant & Poff in Coatesville.

Tom sold vegetables and strawberries at his farm and had people drive from all over to look at his beautiful flower gardens.

He is survived by his children, Janet Ellen (Don) Snyder of Bloomington, Thomas D. (Carol) Parker Jr. of Spencer, Larry (Marilyn) Parker of Greencastle, Mary Ann Trackwell of Bowling Green and Fred (Janis) Parker of Unionville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 11 brothers and sisters; a granddaughter, Cathy Jo Parker, and a son-in-law, Fred Trackwell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Dr. Michael Wren officiating.

Interment will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the funeral home.
