Sunday, October 20, 2013

If you've thought about going to college but just aren't sure if it's for you or where to begin, you're invited to "test drive" Ivy Tech Community College, 915 S. Zinc Mill Rd., Greencastle, on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The first 100 visitors attending the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will receive a free Ivy Tech T-shirt.

Visitors can enter the "showroom" and embark on a self-guided test drive or choose an accompanied test drive with a tour guide.

Each "exit" off the Campus Highways will lead to destinations where you will explore the college. Check out how you look in the driver's seat as you maneuver through features like affordability, mileage, options, trade-in value, comfort and more.

Seven exits will have information about the school and five others will provide demonstrations of specific educational programs offered by the college. Staff and students will serve as guides in each area.

"This is a fun event that allows you to visit and tour campus and see our innovative programs and technology in action," offered Melanie Boesen, vice chancellor/executive dean at Ivy Tech-Greencastle.

The showroom will have a "refueling station" with popcorn. WREB radio will broadcast live and provide music. The sponsor of the event, York Automotive Family in Greencastle, Crawfordsville and Brazil, will be on site providing test drives.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, persons may call 653-7410.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public postsecondary institution and the nation's largest singly accredited statewide community college system, serving nearly 200,000 students annually at campuses throughout Indiana.
