INDIANAPOLIS -- The DePauw men's basketball team outrebounded the Division I Butler Bulldogs, but the Tigers connected on just nine of 27 free throws and dropped a 93-68 exhibition decision at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Pat Haggin's jumper to start the second half closed the gap to seven, but the Bulldogs scored the next seven and the Tigers would get no closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Haggin and Adam Botts each scored 17 for the Tigers, while Tommy Fernitz added 14 and a game-high seven rebounds. Botts hit 5-of-9 three-pointers and Haggin chipped in 3-of-7 as the Tigers knocked in nine as a team.

Kellen Dunham paced Butler with 23 points, while Elijah Brown added 18 and Erik Fromm 11. Fromm and Kameron Woods each had six rebounds.

DePauw shot 45.5 percent from the field to Butler's 52.8 percent and the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers from the line, 30-9 as the hosts hit 30 of 39 from the charity stripe.

The Tigers held a 32-31 edge on the boards and committed 12 turnovers to Butler's eight.

DePauw's season opener is set for Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. when it takes on Trinity International in the Chicago Marriott Naperville Tip-Off Tournament at North Central College.
