Third annual Ridpath Holiday Bazaar slated for Saturday

Sunday, November 3, 2013

Ridpath Primary will host its third annual Ridpath Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9.

More than 40 local vendors will participate in the event, selling a variety of handmade and direct-sales products. Bazaar hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year, for the first time, the lineup will also include "Cookies and Canvas" sessions for kids, presented by art teacher Dessa Frank.

Beginning painters will create a penguin on an 11 x 14 canvas, during the 9:30 a.m. session. Advanced painters will create a Winter Wonderland scene during the 10:45 a.m. session.

Pre-registration is required, and each session is limited to 20 students. A $25 registration fee is due with the registration form. Persons may contact Amanda Dorsett at amandaddorsett@yahoo.com or visit the Facebook event page for more information.

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department also will be on hand, with a Lego play area set up for the kids. They will be registering participants for winter programs and events, including their youth basketball program.

B.B. Photography will be set up, showcasing Greencastle Youth Football images and offering CDs for purchase. Senior photo options will be presented, and appointments scheduled for both senior and holiday portraits. Come dressed in your ugly Christmas sweaters, or don one on site for fun in the B.B. Photography photo booth.

Ridpath's Scholastic Book Fair will be open during the bazaar, offering a variety of children's books, including local author, Troy Cummings' "Notebook of Doom." Proceeds from the book fair support the Ridpath PTO.

A new participant in the event is the Greencastle Youth Cheerleading program, which is raising funds to cover program start-up costs. GYC will be selling a variety of Greencastle-themed items, as well as offering face painting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

GYC will also support Greencastle Youth Football's efforts to purchase new protective helmets by selling retired souvenir Greecastle helmets and jerseys.

Breakfast and lunch, catered by Rhonda Evans, will be available in the school cafeteria. Gift wrapping will be offered by the Girl Scouts, with all proceeds benefiting the troops.

Ridpath Primary School is located at 711 S. Central Ave., in Greencastle.
