County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 12:52 p.m. Friday, Joshua James Wright, 23, Greencastle, was arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor and child exploitation.

At 8:50 p.m. Eugene Allen Halstead II, 50, Bloomington, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated and on a Clark County traffic warrant.

* At 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, Edward William Gable, 18, Shaker Heights, Ohio, was charged with being a minor in consumption of alcohol, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

At 3:30 p.m. Edward W. Tomlin, 24, Cloverdale, was booked in for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

At 1:05 p.m. Shayne Craig Frost, 38, Bainbridge, was charged with probation violation.

* At 12:32 a.m. Tuesday, Tonnetta Jean Evans, 41, Greencastle, was booked in for violation of home detention.

City Police

One arrest was reported Monday by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 4:30 a.m., Patrick Ray McFadden Jr., 31, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee at Shadowlawn Avenue and Indiana Street.

McFadden was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while being a habitual traffic violator.

One traffic citation was issued by Officer Lee at 11:30 p.m. Friday.

* Travis Gray, 24, Fillmore, was cited on South Jackson Street for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff's Department

* At 7:31 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, Austin D. Trotter, 17, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2004 Ford F150.

Trotter told Capt. Danny Wallace his right front wheel got off the road, causing him to lose control, going over an embankment and overturning.

The truck came to rest on the driver's side, facing west.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Sarah N. Ward, 18, Brazil, was westbound on County Road 50 South just east of County Road 300 East in a 1996 Buick Riviera.

Ward told Lt. Donnie Pettit she braked due to wet pavement, at which time she lost control and left the north side of the road.

Ward re-entered the road and overcorrected, causing the car to rotate clockwise. The vehicle left the road a second time and crashed through a fence.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 9:25 a.m. Friday, Sandra L. Evens, 51, Greencastle, was westbound on State Road 240 in a 2007 Saab 97. She told Deputy Matt Biggs that a black cow was in the road and she was unable to avoid the collision.

Evens was able to drive her car from the scene and was not injured.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

The cow was one of several loose in the area, and deputies returned them to their enclosure. The owner of the cattle, Ronald Cash, later contacted Biggs to return to his house.

Cash told the deputy someone had let his cattle out while he was away and that it has been an ongoing problem.

He showed Biggs the enclosure, where the gate wires had been removed and the gate was wide open.

* At 6:54 p.m. State Trooper Patrick Labhart, 29, Greencastle, was northbound on Manhattan Road is a 2012 Dodge Ram registered to the State of Indiana.

As he crested the top of a hill, a deer ran into his path and he could not avoid the collision.

Deputy Biggs said there was damage to the front bumper, grill, radiator and parts of the emergency lights system.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
