INDIANAPOLIS -- The Town of Cloverdale, in conjunction with Cloverdale Township, has been awarded $150,000 to purchase a new pumper fire truck to serve the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department's service area.

Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann formally awarded grant recently with a number of Cloverdale officials on hand at the Indiana Statehouse.

In all, the Indiana lieutenant governor announced Community Focus Fund (CFF) and Main Street Revitalization Program (MSRP) grants totaling $8,181,059 to 24 Hoosier communities.

The grants are funded by the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

"These grants are supporting projects that have been identified by the local communities as important for their continued economic development and quality of life," Ellspermann said.

"The funds help these communities meet the challenges of infrastructure, public safety, library and health care facility costs," she added, "while historic preservation is an important stabilizing influence on community development."

Cloverdale's new pumper fire truck will replace a 35-year-old vehicle and offer additional pumping capacity as well as providing more storage space for rescue equipment.
