INDIANAPOLIS -- The South Putnam football team's sectional championship win was a total team effort in back-and-forth game. Several key plays stood out as making a significant impact on the outcome.

1st quarter, 11:31, First-and-10 on the Lutheran 35:

Grady McHugh throws an incomplete pass on the first play from scrimmage. The Eagles showed immediate trust in their sophomore quarterback, helping to give him confidence that he needed throughout the rest of the game. McHugh played without fear, pushing the ball into tight spaces down the field.

1st quarter, 2:11, fourth-and-4 on the Lutheran 31:

Grady McHugh throws his second interception, again on fourth-down attempt. His aggressiveness remained, but the Eagles were more focused on running the ball and staying away from fourth down situations the rest of the game.

3rd quarter, 7:12, fouth-and-9 on the South Putnam 38:

Senior Tyler Neumann punts for the first time. The Eagles were so dominant on offense, they had no need to punt until midway through the third quarter. They had 24 first downs and punted just twice in the game.

4th quarter, 8:43, third-and-5 on the 50:

Trailing 28-21, senior Joe Waters takes a direct snap from the shotgun formation and scoots up through the right side of the line for a 7-yard gain. His run kept the drive going, eventually leading to a tying score that gave the Eagles momentum.

4th quarter, 6:35, kickoff

Rudy Harris forces a fumble, recovered by freshman Kyle Shaffer, to give the Eagles the ball back immediately after tying the game.

4th quarter, 4:05, third-and-6 on the Lutheran16

McHugh throws a pass into the end zone intended for Wes Riner. It drops incomplete, but a defensive holding penalty gives the Eagles a first down. The play showed the coaching staff trusted McHugh with the ball in his hands and the game on the line.

4th quarter, 0:33, first-and-10 on the Lutheran 37

Senior Sawyer Arnold lines up behind center and takes a knee to run out the rest of the clock. Arnold had started every game at quarterback for the past two seasons before missing Friday's game with a knee injury. He and the rest of the seniors celebrated the sectional win on the field together.
