Chamber accepting entries for 2013 window contest

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce will again be sponsoring the annual Spirit of Christmas Merchant Window Decorating Contest. This means it is time for local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights and ornaments and get creative for the holidays.

The Chamber is now accepting entries for the 2013 Spirit of Christmas Award.

Since 1984, this award has been presented to a local business whose holiday decorations have best captured the spirit of Christmas.

The traveling plaque will be presented at the Civic League's Lights of Love Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2 at the Putnam County Courthouse.

Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and their business windows must be decorated and ready for judging by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

To be eligible for judging, entries may be made by sending in the entry form to the Chamber of Commerce, 16 S. Jackson Street, or faxing it to 848-1015.

Businesses will be judged on the following criteria: Spirit of Christmas, originality, appropriateness for business, continuity of theme and preparations and effort.

The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area and businesses do not have to be Chamber members to participate.
