County Jail

Five people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 8:25 a.m. Jennifer Ileen Pena, 25, Greencastle, was arrested for battery and probation violation.

* At 9 a.m. Jason Lee Price, 35, Roachdale, was charged with invasion of privacy.

* At 2:08 p.m. Erik Milo Pelley, 44, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and driving with a suspended license.

* At 8:22 p.m. William Herbert Coss, 39, Poland, was booked in as a habitual traffic violator.

* At 9:15 p.m. Elesia Victoria Marie Stewart, 24, no city listed, was arrested for probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

A pair of Thursday evening property-damage accidents resulted from run-ins between cars and deer.

* At 5:46 p.m. Preston A. Peterson, 48, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 50 South in a 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis when he hit a deer.

Reserve Deputy Kent Goldman estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:45 p.m. Tyrone B. Goebel, 39, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 200 West in a 2005 in a 2005 Nissan Titan.

Goebel told Goldman that as he entered a curve, he served to the left to avoid a deer.

He then lost control on the gravel and the vehicle went down an embankment on the east side of the road, causing an estimated $10,001-$25,000 in damage.

Goebel was not injured.
