William Russell Long, 68, Roachdale, passed away at his residence on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.

He was born on Nov. 30, 1944 at Ladoga to John W. and Lillian May Harshbarger Long.

He graduated from Roachdale High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Army from 1965-67.

Mr. Long was a member of the Roachdale Baptist Church and attended the Roachdale Christian Church.

He was a member of Roachdale Masonic Lodge 602 and the American Legion at Crawfordsville.

He worked at Hendricks Telephone Corp (now TDS) in 1967, retiring in 2009 after serving in many capacities, including vice president and state manager for Telephone Data Services in Indiana.

He also served as Roachdale Town Board president from 1996 to 2011.

He is survived by one son, Brent D. Long (Shelly) Springhill, Tenn.; two daughters, Brenda Ellen Gray of Coatesville, and Michelle Long Hunt (Joseph) of Avon; 10 grandchildren, Austin Long, Peyton Long, Megan Gray, Karlie Gray, Hannah Gray, Gabe Hunt, Cameron Hunt, Emma Hunt, Baylee Bowling and Reagan Bowling; two sisters, Mary Evelyn (Bud) Adams of Cincinnati, and Jo Ann (Ed) Culley of Roachdale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Steven and Charles Long.

A private graveside for the family will be conducted at Ladoga Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

There will be a celebration of life service at the Roachdale Christian Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Servies and Morgan Funeral Home at Roachdale assisted the family with the arrangements.
