Larry Ray Leonard

Larry Ray Leonard was born Oct. 25, 1948 in Greencastle.

He served our country in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service Medals and Sharpshooters badge.

He retired from General Motors after 30 years.

He passed into God's hands Thursday, Nov. 13, 2013.

Larry was a good and honorable man who was father and friend to many. He will forever be in our hearts.

He is survived by his children Jeremy Leonard, Angie Book and her husband Chris Book, Crissy Merrit and her husband Roy Merritt and Carrie Leonard, as well as his grandchildren Kayla Coffey, Chelsea Romant, Anthony Leonard, Cameron Book, Allison Merritt,and Tyler Leonard; his previous wife Teresa Leonard; sister Carol and her husband Larry Williamson; and cousins Cindy Chadil, Shawn Lyon and Lance Lyon.

He was preceded in death by mother and stepfather Rose and Burley Allgood, grandson Jason Merritt, grandmother Grace Haven, aunt Annie Lyon, former wife Debra Pearson and wife Mariiyn Oaks Leonard.

A private service will be held at a later date.

The family would like extend their gratitude to Horizon Hospice of Danville for their service and dedication.
