Live stand-up comedy returns to Roachdale on Friday night

ROACHDALE -- For the first time since a successful March show, live stand-up comedy will return to Roachdale Friday night, Nov. 22 when Bob and Tom alum DJ Dangler headlines a 9:30 p.m. show.

The comedy show will also include series creator Neil Snyder, as well as Louisville's Patrick Passafiume and Indianapolis's Melinda Kashner.

Reservations are being taken to secure close seating. The crowd for the previous show spilled over into a second room and all the way to the entrance.

Dangler, a full-time comedian, recently toured the East Coast and South. Originally from Terre Haute, he now resides in Indianapolis when not on the road. His loud, expressive stage presence is unmistakably a trademark, as are a number of his jokes that found their way onto his "Where My Sixes At?" CD.

Dangler's credits include clubs all over the country, while this will be his third appearance on a "Comedy in Crawfordsville" series event. His Roachdale appearance will be sandwiched between the middle show of a three-night, three-town weekend.

Passafiume was born in Louisville, and at age six became inspired to be a comedian after watching Adam Sandler and Chris Farley on "Saturday Night Live." Since then he has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Rob Schneider, Tom Green, Ralphie May, Bret Ernst and others.

With an unusual perspective on everything from relationships to kidney stones, his fascination with confetti or his "Sexy Joke Time," he's a crowd favorite, whether he's performing at his home club, The Comedy Caravan, or in Las Vegas as part of the World Series of Comedy.

Meanwhile, Snyder now has produced more than 30 shows in the area and is the sole remaining performer from the first comedy event. A finalist in the Funniest Person in Louisville contest, he has appeared on "The Hip Hop Comedy Spot," headlined for Live Bait Comedy, and been featured performer at shows in four states during his first 20 months dabbling in stand-up.

Kashner, a staple at The Comedy Attic in Bloomington, recently opened for Janeane Garofalo. She has also been part of Stand-Up at The Sinking Ship and been featured on rooftopcomedy.com.

Admission to Friday night's event is free. The show will end sometime around midnight. Food and drink will be available during the duration of the program.

The show will be limited to those 21 and older and will contain adult language, profanity and other potentially objectionable material.
