City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nicholas Rogers, 24, Fillmore, was arrested at the Putnam County Courthouse by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Arrested on a Putnam County warrant for possession of marijuana, Rogers was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 10:11 a.m. Tuesday, a fender-bender was reported in the construction zone as the state repaired some pavement on U.S. 231, south of Veterans Memorial Highway.

Lydia Zeller, 58, Greencastle, had stopped her 2003 Dodge Caravan in traffic on Bloomington Street, near Martinsville Street, when her vehicle was reportedly struck from behind by a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Jessie Scott, 35, Greencastle.

Officer Bunten noted that Scott thought traffic had begun to move again and took her foot off the brake, which allowed it to run into the rear of the Zeller van.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 11:35 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Indianapolis Road and Percy Julian Drive, Audrey James, 87, Greencastle, was westbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 1993 Buick LeSabre, when she started to turn left onto Percy Julian Drive on a green light without benefit of an arrow, and collided with an eastbound 2013 Kia Sorrento, driven by Kaylee Mullenix, 30, Greencastle.

Capt. Mike Hanlon estimated total damage in the accident at $5,000-$10,000.

Nine drivers were ticketed recently by City Police officers.

-- At 7:55 p.m. Monday, Holly Burdine, 37, Roachdale, was ticketed by Officer Kyle Lee at Jackson and Larabee streets for an expired license plate (Nov. 14).

-- At 3:47 a.m. Sunday, Ethan Farmer, 19, Bloomington, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 58 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 2 a.m. Sunday, Tamrah Richardson, 39, Russellville, was cited by Officer Matt Huffman on U.S. 231 North for an expired license plate.

-- At 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Donald Spratt, 38, Indianapolis, was cited on Bloomington Street by Sgt. Charles Inman for driving with a suspended license and possession of paraphernalia.

-- At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nicholas Marilley, 29, Quincy, was cited on Veterans Highway by Officer Jeff Modlin for an expired license plate (July 21).

-- At 10:51 p.m. Nov. 22, James Merritt, 20, Indianapolis, was ticketed by Officer Eastham on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street, for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone

-- At 10:15 p.m. Nov. 22, Carolyn Pickens, 73, Poland, was cited on Veterans Highway by Sgt. Inman for having an expired license plate (Sept. 7).

-- At 9:26 p.m. Nov. 22, Darrel Thomas, 67, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 54 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street

-- At 6:25 p.m. Nov. 22, Justin Beanelis, 18, Bay City, Mich., was cited on Jackson Street by Sgt. Inman for having no driver's license or registration when requested.

Sheriff's Department

* At 5:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Brett K. Kemper, 48, Cloverdale, was southbound on State Road 243 in a 1991 GMC pickup.

Kemper told Deputy Philip Troyer that as he approached a curve in the road, he noticed a northbound pickup in the curve, halfway into the southbound lane.

Swerving to miss the vehicle, Kempber left the road and struck a tree, continuing through some brush and stopping off the road.

The other pickup continued northbound without stopping. The offending vehicle was not located.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
