Green Friday

Friday, November 29, 2013
As Black Friday customers around the country duked it out for flat screens or Xboxes, others took part in the more time-honored and wholesome tradition of firing up the family truckster and bringing home the family Christmas tree. As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, Snowy Pines Christmas Tree Farm on U.S. 231 North had sold nearly 100 trees to the day after Thanksgiving crowd. Anthony (left) and Mandy Walker made their way from Terre Haute, along with young daughter Amelia (not pictured), to continue a family tradition of picking out a real tree. Snowy Pines is open seven days a week for the Christmas season.

Loading an 11-foot tree into the back of a pickup was a three-man job for James Zeller (left) and Michael Dawson (center) of Snowy Pines, along with customer Jason Callis.
