Inn at DePauw, Low Road partner for night of jazz

The weekly dose of music that is Jazz at the Duck will start early this week, as The Inn at DePauw and the Low Road Gallery partner for Jazz Night.

The evening will begin with a Speak Easy party and silent auction fundraiser at Low Road Gallery at from 6-8 p.m.

The Low Road Gallery is located at 111 W. Washington St. and is run by three fifth-year interns in the DePauw Art Department.

The night will continue with the normally scheduled Jazz at the Duck at the Inn at DePauw's Fluttering Duck from 8:30-10:30 p.m.

This week's performer is the John Spicknall Trio.

A jazz pianist, Spicknall has been on the Indiana State University music faculty since 1969.

As a jazz pianist, Spicknall is largely self-taught although he has worked with such noted jazz teachers as Jamey Aebersold, David Baker and Jerry Coker.

He has become a much sought-after clinician and jazz performer throughout the state of Indiana and elsewhere.

This will be the last Jazz at the Duck performance of the fall semester. As always, the show is free and open to the public.
