Rev. Jimmy Ray Parrish, 71, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.

Born Dec. 6, 1941 in Greencastle, he was the son of Guy Estil and Maggie Belle (Higgins) Parrish. He married Millie Ann (Russell) Parrish on Oct. 1, 1962 and she survives.

He was a man of many skills, his favorite of which was preaching at God's Way Full Gospel Church. For eight years of the time of his service to the Lord, he ministered to inmates at the county jail.

Jimmy was a friend to many and many were his friends.

He is survived by his wife Millie; children, Kathy (Larry) Barger, Lisa (Daniel) Potter and Melony (Randy) Terry; siblings Gene (Betty) Parrish, Doug Parrish, Randy (Joanie) Parrish, Tim (Jayme) Parrish, Gary (Cindy) Lear, Peggy Wright, Becky (Chuck Reeves) Burchette, Debbie (Ernie) Phillips and Shirly (Darel) Knauer; grandchildren Eric Lancaster, Heidi Wathen, Chad Lancaster, Melissa Potter, Cindy Neiner, Aaron Potter, Adrenia Waugh and Wade Terry; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Van Parrish; a granddaughter, Dawanatta Dawn Lancaster; sisters, Ester Venis Parrish and Pam Patterson; and a brother, Larry Estil Parrish.

Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Ernie Phillips officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home.
