CLAYTON -- Tom Freije of Freije Auctioneers is the newly-elected president of the Indiana Auctioneers Association for 2014. Indiana has the largest state auctioneers association in the United States.

"During my presidency, I hope to help further streamline auction laws," Freije said.

He will also focus on developing and promoting education for auctioneers.

"In an ever-changing business environment, educating the consumer about the auction method of marketing is key to the success of auctioneers," he said.

Freije has been a member of the IAA for 29 years. He has served on the Indiana Auctioneers Association Board of Directors and has been instrumental in developing educational programs for auctioneers.

Freije has been a full-time auctioneer since 1984. He has a Doctorate in Education Administration, but has not pursued that avenue since the '70s.

His career has been many-faceted, selling livestock, general merchandise, purebred horses, automobiles, farm machinery, heavy equipment, oil field equipment, real estate, farm land and industrial machines.

Freije Auctioneers is a full-service auction marketing and appraisal company. Freije Auctioneers conducts more than 400 auctions per year, selling automobiles, livestock equipment, general merchandise, collectibles, antiques and real estate at live and online auctions.

The appraisal arm of the company performs more than 600 industrial, commercial, agricultural, residential real estate and personal property appraisals.
