'Best Christmas gift ever' topic for Boomers and Beyond

Sunday, December 8, 2013

The December meeting of Boomers and Beyond is scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 in the Kiwanis room at Putnam County Public Library.

Theme for the event is "The Best Gift Ever Given or Received."

Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite gift and/or share photographs and stories of giving or receiving a special gift.

Holiday goodies will be served.

Boomers and Beyond is a Putnam County Public Library (PCPL) program open to everyone over the age of 50. It meets on the second Thursday of each month, offering participants the opportunity to share stories from their lives, hear interesting presentations, engage in workshops and socialize.

At each meeting the group decides the theme for the following month's get-together.

Meanwhile, the PCPL also will host two holiday parties for children in December.

The Polar Express Party is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 with a reading of the holiday story, "The Polar Express," and a visit by Santa Claus.

A Holiday Doll Party is set for 3:30 pm. Wednesday, Dec. 11. Boys and girls are encouraged to bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal to the library and enjoy hot cocoa, holiday treats, make a craft, and have some holiday fun.

The PCPL events are all free and open to the public.
