Sheriff's Department

Four people were injured in a Tuesday, Dec. 3 accident involving two semis and an SUV.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Narinder Singh, 44, Marysville, Wash., was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of the 33-mile marker in a 2007 Freightliner CST 120. For unknown reasons, traffic slowed very rapidly and Singh was forced to hit the brakes hard.

This caused the truck to jackknife and put the cab into the left lane.

Approaching the truck in a 1999 GMC Suburban, Otto Yerke Sr., 52, Montrose, Colo., was unable to avoid hitting the front driver's side of semi cab.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell said Yerke's vehicle then continued 150 feet and hit the rear of the trailer pulled by the 2004 Volvo VNL driven by Namik Ibi, 46, Livonia, Mich.

All four people in Yerke's vehicle were taken for immediate care.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
