Roachdale looking at future projects

ROACHDALE -- With the new year just around the corner, the town of Roachdale is looking to the start of new projects and the completion of some old ones.

At the town council meeting Tuesday night there was discussion on the water project for which Roachdale recently received a grant. Plans for the project have been drawn up and will be looked at over the coming month.

The town has also decided to move forward with a wastewater project and will be looking for engineers for it. A public hearing for the proposed project will be held during the monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Along with moving forward on these new projects, town council president Jack Jones was concerned with the unfinished clean-up on properties in town.

Jones said he believes the town hasn't followed through with what was started this year and wants the town to recommit to the clean-up next year.

The rest of the council agreed with his assessment and will be looking at what properties still need to be worked on.

The next town council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
