Xenia Darlene Nelson, age 71, of Greencastle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013.

On Aug. 21, 1959, she married the love of her life, Laverne Dale Nelson. To this marriage was added one daughter, Susan Darlene (Gerald) Nelson Hamilton,

Darlene was a homemaker and a member of the Way of the Cross Assembly of God Church, Brazil.

She was born Jan. 19, 1942 in Brazil, the daughter of Richard T. and Eloise (Starrett) Summers, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Enos Q. Summers.

She is survived by her husband; daughter; two sisters, Dameta (Larry) Rooze and Rita Summers of Monrovia; three brothers, Terry W. (Cheryl) Summers, Cletus T. (Lawanna) Summers and Randall L. (Cheryl) Summers; three grandchildren, Charlotte, Crystal (Jason) and Gregory; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Jimmy Dowers officiating.

Interment will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Way of the Cross Mission Fund, 3010 E. U.S. 40 Brazil, IN 47834.

Darlene wanted to share, "If you don't know the Lord, as Savior for remission of sin, don't let it be said, 'Too Late I Never Knew You.' Where will you spend eternity, with the Angels in Heaven or the Demons in Hell? You are only on heartbeat away from death. Church was a large part of my life."
