Langdon, Carrington class champs at Greencastle Holiday
The Greencastle wrestling team is still gaining experience early in the season, but senior Aaron Langdon and freshman Trae Carrington are already in late-season form.
Langdon (170) followed up his second-straight Putnam County champion on Thursday with a win at the Greencastle Holiday Tournament on Saturday. He finished 4-0 on the day and was also the only wrestler to win by pin fall in every match.
Carrington (120) was 3-1, 3-0 at his weight.
"Aaron Langdon continues to be very impressive," GHS coach Logan Kuhne said.
As a team, the Tiger Cubs finished the five-team event 0-4. They're without several competitors because of injury and have just a few wrestlers returning from last season's team.
Competing after a short turnaround with a young team is difficult, Kuhne said, because of the limited time to rest, recover and improve on missteps and mistakes.
"We've got things to work on," he said. "Wrestling seven matches in three days is tough, but we're going to see that same thing in Scottsburg."
The Tiger Cubs are competing next Friday and Saturday in the Warriors Invitational in Scottsburg where they will wrestle ten matches.
