County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Donna Lynn Dwigans, 44, Adel, was arrested for failure to appear.

* At 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, James Franklin Wallace, 46, Brazil, was charged with probation violation and resisting law enforcement.

At 10:30 a.m. Michael Jason Muse, 31, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for probation violation.

At 12:35 p.m. Kerry Wayne Gilbert II, 33, Bainbridge, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and violation of home detention.

At 6:55 p.m. Richard Aaron Jordan, 23, Indianapolis, was arrested for criminal trespassing and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

City Police

The arrest of a suspect in a Monday burglary and theft at an East Side residence was reported by Greencastle City Police.

Brent Michael Hudson, 20, Greencastle, was lodged in the Putnam County Jail at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday on charges of burglary, residential entry and theft.

The charges stem from an incident at the Brandon Ford residence, 1116 Avenue D. Ford returned home Monday to find the back door of the house had been kicked in, Sgt. Charles Inman reported.

Items taken included a PlayStation 3 game system and cartridges, valued at $515.

With the arrest of Hudson, police said, approximately $450 worth of items were recovered.

One other recent arrest was reported by city officers.

-- At 2:14 a.m. Jan. 1, Timothy Stephen McCullough was arrested by Sgt. Inman after being stopped on South Jackson Street near West Poplar Street.

McCullough was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He registered a .09 percent blood-alcohol content when tested by police.

McCullough was initially stopped for disregarding a stopsign at Walnut and Jackson streets. He received a warning ticket for that infraction.

Three recent property-damage accidents were investigated by GPD.

-- At 12:43 p.m. Monday, a three-vehicle mishap was reported on Indianapolis Road, 600 feet west of Percy Julian Drive.

Officer Albert Epple reported that Jared Hutchison, 32, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 2004 Ford Ranger when he looked away momentarily as traffic in front of him came to a stop.

The Hutchison truck reportedly struck the rear of a 2005 GMC Sierra, driven by Amanda Hernandez, 29, Greencastle, pushing it into the rear of a 1996 Dodge Ram, driven by Donald Lytle, 59, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

-- At 4:20 p.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at Zinc Mill Road and Tennessee Street.

Melissa Snapp, 34, Greencastle, was stopped eastbound on Tennessee, waiting to turn onto Zinc Mill Road in a 2009 Kia Sportage when her car was reportedly struck by a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Todd Gibbs, 19, Greencastle.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that as Gibbs turned to go westbound on Tennessee Street his car struck the Snapp vehicle nearly head-on, resulting in damage estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

There were no reported injuries in the accident.

Capt Mike Hanlon and Officer Ed Wilson assisted at the scene.

-- A car-deer accident was reported at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 27 on Shadowlawn Avenue, 200 feet east of Quail Ridge Drive in the Deer Field Subdivision.

David R. Brown, 58, Greencastle, was westbound, driving a 2006 BMW, when a deer ran into the roadway in front of him and was struck.

Officer Kyle Lee noted damage to the right front bumper of the vehicle, estimating it at $1,000-$2,500.
