County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4 a.m. on Saturday, Will Wigginton, 55, Terre Haute, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and as a habitual traffic violator.

At 10:10 p.m. Samuel Patrick Summers, 20, Louisville, Ky., was charged with operating while intoxicated and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

* At 1:25 a.m. Michael Lee Bell, 21, Poland, was held at the jail for possession of paraphernalia and operating having never received a license.

At 3:45 a.m. Hayden DeWayne Rogers, 21, Greencastle, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 3:50 a.m. Stephen James Kaminski, 22, Chicago, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 9:50 p.m. on Monday, Jeffrey Lynn Syrus, 60, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and resisting law enforcement.

City Police

One additional arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 2 a.m. Monday, Jessica Marie Carter, 25, Greencastle, was pulled over for a traffic stop by Sgt. Chris Jones at State Road 240 and Fillmore Road.

She was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Greene County warrant for theft.

Sheriff's Department

Several recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 5:08 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, Kathy Stonebraker, 57, Reelsville, was stopped on southbound Manhattan Road at U.S. 40 in a 2012 Subaru. Lanny A. Fenwick, 44, Greencastle, was southbound approaching the intersection in a 1993 Toyota pickup.

Fenwick told Deputy Phillip Troyer he attempted to stop but lost control due to the icy road. He tried turning his wheels, but could not control the vehicle, rear-ending Stonebraker's vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:32 a.m. on Friday, Michael B. Cooper, 35, Amo, was westbound on County Road 100 North just west of County Road 850 East in a 2004 Saturn Vue. Jerri L. Slocum, 59, Fillmore, was eastbound in the same area in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Due to weather and road conditions, the vehicles sideswiped each other.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8 a.m. on Friday, Matt Harrison, 43, Greencastle, was westbound on West Walnut Street just east of County Road 175 West in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he lost control in snow and ice.

The SUV left the north side of the roadway and struck a guardrail end.

Lt. Donnie Pettit estimated damages at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:38 a.m. on Friday, Robert W. Bills, 76, Brazil, was southbound in the parking lot of Cloverdale Family Medicine in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

Bills told Reserve Deputy Tyler Turner he was trying to pull into a parking spot when he struck a parked 2006 Chevrolet Malibu registered to William E. Rice of Quincy.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, Anna M. Murphy, 22, Avon, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 1992 Jeep Wrangler. She told Sgt. Gregg Slover she drove off the road while texting.

She further said snow piled up on the shoulder pulled her toward the ditch and she lost control. While trying to correct, the Jeep rolled on its side.

Murphy tested at .16 blood alcohol content on the portable breath test and later at .14 on the certified test.

She was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 1:30 a.m. for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

Assisting officers at the scene were deputies Kyle Gibbons and Phillip Troyer.

Damages were estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, Trevor M. Troyer, 18, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2003 Toyota Corolla.

Troyer told Reserve Deputy Turner he was coming down a curved grade when he lost control of the car, causing it to spin and hit a guardrail with the driver's side rear corner.

The vehicle then made contact with the entire driver's side, causing an estimated $2,501-$5,000 in damage.

* At 8:09 p.m. on Saturday, Andrew Waters, 19, Cloverdale, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am when he lost control on the icy road.

He told Reserve Deputy Andrew Fenwick he tried to correct the vehicle but lost control. The car rolled three times and came to rest on its wheels just off the south side.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 9:06 p.m. on Saturday, David P. Burns, 55, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 525 East in a 1994 Toyota Camry.

Burns told Reserve Deputy Tony Keith that as he reached a corner at the bottom of a hill and steered right, the car slid off the icy road and hit a utility pole.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 1:34 a.m. on Sunday, Morgan T. Grundlock, 18, Coatesville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 1999 Ford Explorer.

Grundlock told Deputy Troyer he was in the passing lane when he lost control on a bridge in the slick conditions. The car left the roadway and rolled.

Grundlock denied medical treatment but his father arrived and said he would take him to Hendricks Regional Health.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
