County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Michael Wayne Lady, 40, Greencastle, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent and probation violation.

At 6:03 p.m. James Jason Campbell, 34, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and probation violation.

At 7:05 p.m. Lloyd Eastham Jr., 31, Whiteland, was held at the jail for driving while suspended and failure to appear.

* At 12:53 a.m. on Wednesday, Herbert Arthur Dewbrew III, 32, Burkesville, Ky., was booked in for receiving stolen property and probation violation.

At 4:34 a.m. Misty Dawn Crouch, 39, Greencastle, was arrested for domestic battery and probation violation.

At 10:55 a.m. Shannon Stockoff, 34, Indianapolis, was charged with failure to appear.

* At 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, Owen John Underwood, 19, Greencastle, was charged with public intoxication and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 9:02 a.m. Wednesday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on State Road 240, 500 feet east of Capital Drive.

Capt. Mike Hanlon reported that Dwight Trueblood, 60, Greencastle, was eastbound, driving a 1996 Ford Explorer when he slowed behind an eastbound semi that was turning left into the Ascena (formerly F.B. Distro) lot.

Also eastbound was Paul N. Trissel, 33, Greencastle, driving a 2006 Dodge Ram and pulling a trailer. Capt. Hanlon reported that Trissel passed the Trueblood vehicle on the right, and when he cut back into the driving lane, his vehicle clipped the Explorer, resulting in an estimated $1,000-$2,500 damage.

-- At 3:20 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Washington Street, 20 feet east of Indiana Street as the power steering box apparently broke on a 1996 Mack dump truck driven by Jeffrey Suhre, 55, Indianapolis.

With that malfunction, the driver reportedly lost control of the dump truck, which struck a parked, unoccupied 2011 Hyundai, owned by Teresa Parrish, Greencastle.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

One recent traffic citation was issued by city officers.

At 12:06 a.m. Thursday, Amber Decker, 28, Greencastle, was stopped at Indianapolis Road and Percy Julian Drive and cited by Sgt. Chris Jones for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, Putnam County Jail officer David R. Brown, Greencastle, was traveling east through the drive on the south side of the jail in a 2013 Chevrolet Express jail van.

Brown told Lt. Donnie Pettit he tried to drive between two vehicles parked on either side of the drive.

The van struck a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle, causing damage to the rear passenger side taillight and fender of the Tahoe. The van sustained damage to the rear passenger side area.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 1:36 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, Zachary M. Hunter, 19, Russellville, was westbound out of a private driveway onto County Road 725 West in a 1998 Dodge Durango.

Hunter told Deputy Ronnie Campbell he came to the end of the driveway and could not stop due to ice on the surface.

His vehicle slid into a southbound 2008 Ford F250 driven by Brenton A. McGaughey, 23, Russellville.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
