South girls struggle in tilt with Bulldogs

MONROVIA -- South Putnam's girls' basketball squad is still looking for its first WCC win after falling on the road to Monrovia 53-22.

Both teams struggled to find offense in the opening period with the hosts taking a meager 8-4 after one quarter and a 22-10 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs final pulled away after outscoring the Eagles by 14 in the third frame and pushed the lead to as high as 35 late in the fourth quarter.

Kristal Smith led all scorers with 16 points, while South Putnam was led by Emily Dobson's seven, and four points each from Ariel Higgins and Amanda Barnes.
