County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:08 p.m. on Monday, Gerald Lee Alley Jr., 29, New Market, was booked in on battery resulting in bodily injury and a probation violation.

* At 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Andrew Joseph Albertson, 39, Greenwood, was charged with driving on a suspended license.

At 2:46 p.m., Kali Jane Rugenstein, 29, Greencastle, was arrested for a probation violation.

* At 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Brandi Christine Marshall, 32, Bloomfield was arrested for failure to appear.

At 3:25 p.m., Richard Dean Carver, 40, Rockville, was charged with possession of marijuana.

At 3:25 p.m., Donald Allen Ferris, 39, Fillmore, was charged with possession and the sale of methamphetamines and possession of paraphernalia.

At 3:25 p.m. Melissa Ann York, 45, Coatesville, was charged with possession and the sale of methamphetamines and neglect of a dependent.

* At 7:17 a.m. on Thursday, Kristen Ruth Huepenbecker, 21, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, Matthew S. Bardonner, 27, Indianapolis, was westbound on State Road 240 when he lost control of his 1999 Pontiac Grand AM, causing it to spin.

Bardonner informed Deputy Tyler Turner that he then struck Tyler J. Naumann, 18, Greencastle, sideswiping his 2002 Ford Ranger.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 9:31 a.m. on Thursday, Elizabeth A. Brine, 55, Reelsville, was eastbound on County Road 900 South near the intersection of County Road 200 West when she lost control of her 2008 Ford Focus due to the icy roadway.

Brine advised Deputy Jon Chadd that she left the roadway on the north side and struck a ditch, which caused the vehicle to roll on its side.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 3:32 on Friday, Megan E. Lavely, 25, Martinsville, was southbound on County Road 575 East when she lost control of her 2008 Ford Focus on the slick roadway.

Lavely advised Lt. Dwight Simmons that she slid off the north side of the road and struck a small tree with the driver's side fender.

The driver reported a complaint of pain, but declined medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 8:35 a.m. on Saturday, Kacey L. Myers, 22, Crawfordsville, was eastbound on State Road 236 just west of County Road 500 West.

Myers told Lt. Donnie Pettit that she lost control of her 2009 Chevrolet Malibu due to the ice and snow on the roadway. The vehicle then rotated counter-clockwise and struck a tree on the north side of the roadway.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 12:03 p.m., Rachel L. Lawson, 31, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40, when her 2010 Dodge Caravan came in contact with snow and slush on the east side of the roadway and down a steep embankment, which caused the vehicle to roll over on its top.

Reserve officer Kent Goldman, with assistance from Chadd, stated that the road surface was slick and snow covered with high winds blowing across U.S. 231 from west to east.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

At 3:05 p.m., Jason C. Keeney, 28, Greencastle, was southwest bound on County Road 445 West with Amos P. Thomas, 83, Greencastle, northeast bound on County Road 445 West.

Keeney advised Chief Deputy Tom Helmer that the southbound lanes of the roadway were drifting shut due to snow being blown from the fields to the west of the roadway, adding that as he approached a drift he observed Thomas approaching and applied his brakes.

Due to the ice-covered roadway, Keeney's 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme started sliding and traveled left-of-center and struck the left side of Thomas' 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL.

Thomas advised Helmer that he was in his lane of travel when Keeney started sliding, came left-of-center and struck his vehicle.

Following impact with Keeney, Thomas drove off roadway into a ditch on the east side of the roadway.

A witness advised that Keeney was left-of-center upon impact.

Keeny was uninjured. However, Thomas' complained of dizziness and was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Chadd for examination.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

At 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, Johnny Hasselburg, 24, Russellville, was traveling northbound on U.S. 231 just north of County Road 100 North.

Hasselburg advised Pettit that he lost control of his 1994 Chevrolet due to the ice and snow on the roadway. The vehicle then went into the southbound lane and struck a mailbox on the west side of U.S. 231 then traveled into a ditch.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,001.

* At 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Rita Bedwell, 70, Coatesville, was westbound on County Road 600 North, just west of Heritage Drive.

Bedwell informed Pettit that she lost control of her 2002 Chevrolet Tracker due to the snow and ice on the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the south side of the road and struck a power pole.

Passenger Billy Bedwell, 70, Coatesville was treated by Operation Life for neck pain.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,00.

* At 9:50 a.m. on Monday, Gregory R. Tomasino, 58, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 125 East when he approached a sweeping right hand turn.

Tomasino advised Deputy Mike Downing that he attempted to turn right, but due to the ice and poor road conditions he lost control of his 1997 Mazda B-Series truck.

The vehicle then rolled through a ditch, hit a tree head-on and got tangled up in a power pole guide wire.

Jerry's Wrecker Service was called to the scene to remove the vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 7:28 a.m. on Tuesday, Paula M. Gaddis, 46, Greencastle, was traveling east on U.S. 36 in a 2003 Dodge Caravan.

Gaddis advised Deputy Matt Biggs that she was traveling across Big Walnut Bridge when there was a deer standing in the roadway and she couldn't avoid the animal and struck it with the front passenger side of her vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
