Rescued dogs still in need of assistance

Thursday, February 6, 2014

To the Editor:

Our rescue was one of three (along with Lucky Pups and For Paws Sake) rescues that assisted with the recent removal of 67 dogs from a New Maysville residence.

We would like to thank Officer Downing and Detective McFadden for all of their hard work on this case and for making the loading of the dogs go as smooth as possible. While we know they, as well as the prosecutor's office, have a lot of work to do filing their reports and moving forward with charges, we are appreciative that the dogs are out of the horrible conditions they were living in and are now being taken care of and loved.

Many of the dogs we received (we got 21 and now have 25 due to one giving birth) will need surgeries for various issues (tumors, growths, teeth/gum disease) in addition to the regular veterinary care we provide (spay/neuter, vaccinations, HW testing). All dogs have received emergency care (treatment for parasites, antibiotics, etc.) and are being monitored until we can get "custody" of them so we can proceed with surgeries and placing them in loving homes.

We are in need of donations to help with these (and the many other animals we rescue). Donations can be mailed to Helping Pawz, PO Box 83, Fillmore IN 46128 or made via paypal at fortheanimalz@yahoo.com. Donations can also be made directly to one of the veterinary clinics we work with (please call or e-mail for that information).

We can be reached at 719-3546 or 719-1967 or by email at helpingpawzinfo@yahoo.com. We are also on Facebook if you would like to see some pictures of these amazing dogs and follow their story.
