CLOVERDALE -- One person was killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 between Cloverdale and Little Point, authorities confirmed.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

The driver was reportedly alone in the car when the crash occurred between the 43- and 44-mile marker, about three miles east of Cloverdale.

The fatal accident, reported shortly after 3 a.m., shut down I-70 in both directions for approximately two hours early Sunday morning.

Authorities said a semi driver called 911 to report that a car had slid off the interstate east of Cloverdale and flipped into the median near the North Little Point Road exit.

The interstate was shut down between the U.S. 231 interchange at Cloverdale and State Road 39 south of Belleville.

After Indiana State Police investigated and cleared the scene, all lanes of the interstate were reportedly reopened around 5:30 a.m.

This story will be update whenever possible as police continue their investigation and notification procedures.
