County Jail

One person was booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 3:56 p.m., Jonathan Leroy McGowan, 33, Indianapolis, was arrested for a probation violation.

City Police

Three recent accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 4:20 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Bloomington and Washington streets.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Sarah Boyd, 27, Lafayette, had stopped her northbound vehicle on Bloomington Street as another vehicle turned left.

Boyd's 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer was then struck by a 2011 Kia Seoul driven by Kristel Vick, 32, Coatesville, who was also northbound and couldn't stop her vehicle in time as it slid on the icy roadway.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 10:34 a.m. Monday, an unoccupied parked 2012 Chrysler Town and Country van, owned by Patrick and Jennifer Sue McCune, Greencastle, was struck while parked in the lot at Autumn Glen off Round Barn Road.

A 2003 Chevrolet shuttle bus, driven by Soloman Thompson, 48, Greencastle, for Old National Trail Special Services, struck the McCune van after meeting an oncoming vehicle and attempting to merge to the right after picking up passengers at the senior living facility.

Total damage was estimated by Officer Bunten at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 11:10 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred on the Kroger parking lot off Indianapolis Road.

Officer Albert Epple reported that a 2013 Kia, driven by Lori Shuck, 53, Greencastle, and a 2004 Dodge Ram, driven by Jennifer Vermillion, 48, Greencastle, were being backed from parking spaces simultaneously when the collision occurred.

Total damage was listed at less than $1,000.

One traffic citation was issued recently by Sgt. Charles Inman.

-- At 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Joshua Johnson, 34, Waveland, was ticketed on Indianapolis Road for having an expired license plate (May 28, 2013).

Sheriff's Dept.

One recent accident was investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

-- At 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Jack Scanland, 38, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 325 West, rounding a curve that turns into County Road 100 North.

Scanland advised Lt. Donnie Pettit that he lost control of his 2002 Dodge Ram due to snow on the road. He then traveled off the north side of County Road 100 North, striking a fence and a tree.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
